Butter Lettuce

Boston lettuce, Butterhead lettuce

Butter lettuce is a classic salad lettuce. Cabbage-like, with slender, smooth, and loosely curled leaves. Leaves are thin, light green at the top, and white and crisp at the base. A head of butter lettuce resembles a flowering rose. We also offer red butter lettuce, which develops leaves that are light green at the base, and a deep burgundy at the top.

Thinning technique

After you've transplanted your seedlings to the grow shelf. Each pod should be thinned to 1 seedling. To do this pull out the excess seedlings using a pair of tweezers or your fingers gently.

Harvesting technique

Harvest the entire plant by cutting just 2 inches above the base of the stem. If harvesting for baby leaf, harvest the entire plant, but leave ⅓ of the plant’s height for regrowth.
